Pneumatotherapy
The pressure chambers in the Physikarium therapy centre are unique in Austria on account of their design and the fact that there are both underpressure and overpressure chambers. The type of chamber allocated to guests depends on their particular need.
General
In the pneumatic chambers (pressure chambers) a pressure gradient is slowly built up, triggering different effects and adjustment mechanisms in the body. The self-healing powers of the body are also activated, for example by stimulating blood regeneration.
Underpressure therapy = underpressure chamber or climate chamber
Mountain air therapy involves the simulation of the atmospheric conditions prevalent at a height of 2000m (if necessary, even higher, e.g. for fitness training) for medicinal purposes
Overpressure therapy = Overpressure chamber (0.3 bar)
The pressure corresponds to, for example: the height of the Dead Sea, a 4m deep dive or a gallery therapy
6-10 x 90-minute sessions are recommended for effective, lasting treatment.
Effects on the body
- Improvement of all respiratory complaints and breathing functions (e.g. asthma)
- Stimulation of the body's own defences (against increased vulnerability to infections, or allergies in the case of other immune deficiencies such as autoimmune illnesses, etc.)
- Reduction of free radicals as part of tumour defence
- Activation of circulation, blood flow and metabolism (e.g. cholesterol, sugar, etc.)
- Reduction in the use of certain medicines (in particular, cortisones and antibiotics, etc.)
- Stabilization of the vegetative nervous system
- Increase in regenerative ability and performance as well as fitness (sportsmen and women)
- Positive effect on rheumatic conditions
- Possible relief from the following conditions: Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, certain forms of tinnitus
The latest research results from the Austrian Institute for Mountain Air and the Russian Academy of Sciences have confirmed its importance for the respiratory tracts, circulation, immunology and general well-being, etc.
