Saltwater and sulphur for prevention, improvement and healing
Our saltwater is a naturally occurring local remedy with a salt content of 25-30 grams per litre of water. At the EurothermenResort Bad Ischl it forms the basis of most therapies - as pure saltwater or in various combinations.
Depending on the therapeutic goal, salt is used in concentrations of between 0.9 to 12% (in the bathing area 3%, corresponding to the salinity of the Adriatic Sea).
How does saltwater work and what exactly does a saltwater therapy involve?
Saltwater is characterized by its strong, diverse effectiveness and optimum tolerability when administered in the form of saltwater hydrotherapy, saltwater mud packs or saltwater inhalations. In combinable baths and during underwater massages and other underwater therapies, saltwater penetrates the skin, with its effect conveyed to different regions of the body via complex biological processes.
Saltwater baths are pain-relieving, prevent infections, promote blood circulation, and are relaxing. They stimulate cell regeneration, the metabolism and organ functions, strengthen the immune system, desensitize in the case of allergies and stabilize the nerves and psyche. The strong buoyancy of saltwater also aids mobility by placing less strain on the joints. Also important is saltwater's strong and scientifically-proven effect on the vegetative nervous system, and its holistic regenerative effect.
Even during pre- and post carcinoma care, saltwater, a mild irritant, is not only permitted but recommended. When inhaled too, saltwater prevents infections, works as an expectorant, and accelerates mucous membrane regeneration.
SALTWATER multistep therapies
(Saltwater CO2 bath with oxygen inhalation)
This special multiple combination of natural remedies, all of which strengthen each other, uses all the functional systems in the body. The carbon dioxide not only increases blood circulation by 600%, it also strengthens the impact of the saltwater (see above) as well as of the other bath products and promotes the absorption and usability of the inhaled oxygen.
The result - an almost unbeatable holistic health boost.
What does simultaneous therapy involve?
You lie in a saltwater CO2 bath that possibly includes individual bath products such as horse chestnut, calamus, etc., and inhale a set amount of oxygen through a nasal cannulla. While you relax in the "champagne bath", health-promoting micro-physiological processes will be at work in your body.
SULPHUR
Bad Ischl's sulphur spring is the second-strongest in Austria (after Bad Deutsch Altenburg), with a bivalent titratable sulphur content of approx. 66 mg/l.
What is it used for?
Sulphur is mainly used in saltwater sulphur relaxation baths to relieve all ailments relating to the locomotor system. It also has a significant blood-pressure lowering effect and a salutary influence when it comes to certain skin diseases.
Our sodium chloride sulphate healing mineral water - the Glauber's salt drinking cure - has a positive effect on the metabolism (cholesterol, blood sugar, etc) and today especially has a wide range of uses.
